Dina Marie Gianni Dina Marie Gianni died in The Californian Alzheimer's Unit, Woodland Friday, March 29, 2002, at age 90. Born May 18, 1911, in San Francisco, Mrs. Gianni was the daughter of the late Carlo and Maria Chelini of Lucca, Italy. She graduated from Lux High School in San Francisco and received her elementary teaching credential from San Francisco State Teacher's college in 1933. Mrs. Gianni gave 30 years of service to the San Francisco School District where she taught at both Commodore Stockton in Chinatown and Winfield Scott Elementary Schools. After residing in Marin County for 26 years, she and her husband moved to Woodland to be near their daughter, Carolyn and her family. According to her family members, "she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. " She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Gale and husband Jeff of Woodland; and granddaughters, Elizabeth Gale Wells and husband Ron of Lakewood, Wash. and Johannah Gale of Woodland. Mrs. Gianni is also survived by her sister, Ida Cendali of San Diego; and brother, George Chelini of Corte Madera. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Reno Gianni, in 2000; brothers, Italio Chelini; niece, Beverly Richardson; and nephew, Joseph Chelini. Friends are invited to attend a crypt side service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, at the Woodland Cemetery, 800 West St., Woodland. George Raymond Giannini George Raymond Giannini, a longtime UC Davis mechanical engineer, died suddenly June 16, 2003, in Davis. He was 79. Born Nov. 11, 1923, he was raised in San Francisco. A decorated veteran of World War II, during which he served in the U.S. Army, he moved to Davis in 1951. A graduate of a Bay Area community college and a trade school, Giannini worked for 32 years as a mechanical engineer in the UCD Department of Agricultural Engineering. His major contributions included inventing a tomato harvester and a lettuce seeder, as well as other agricultural machinery. Away from campus, he was an active member of St. James Catholic Church and the Aquadarts and Masters Swim Club. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Connie, his sons Scott Giannini of Miwok, Mark Giannini of Sacramento, Craig Giannini of Davis and George Giannini Jr. of Granite Bay, daughter Michele Verhaag of Rocklin and nine grandchildren. He will be dearly missed, his family said. A visitation and Mass were earlier today, Friday, June 20, 2003, at St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church in Rocklin. Christopher Gibbs Christopher Gibbs, a longtime resident of Davis, died suddenly at his home in Portland, Ore., on Aug. 9, 2001, due to complications from diabetes. He was 28 years old. He was born Sept. 6, 1972, in Santa Rosa, then moved to Davis with his parents in 1975, where he lived until moving to Portland five years ago. He graduated from Davis High School in 1991, attended Career College of Cosmetology in Woodland, and this year completed his courses in cosmetology in Portland. He recently received his Oregon state license in cosmetology. He was a free spirit who loved his family, his many friends, his music and life. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lani and Bob Warren of Davis; his father and stepmother, Greg and Pam Gibbs of Davis; his brother, Justin Gibbs of Davis; his stepsisters, Amanda Vaudrin of Denver, Melissa Adams of Lafayette, Debbie Warren Kosloff, Leslie Piciullo and Linda Willoughby; his stepbrother, Jeff Adams of Minneapolis, Minn.; three aunts; two uncles; and 12 cousins. Mary R. Gibbs Mary Ring Gibbs, a 32-year Davis resident, died after a brief illness with hepatitis on May 31, 2002, at her home in Davis. She was 82. She was born on Nov. 25, 1919. She married Charles Gibbs in 1948 when both were living in Ann Arbor, Mich. In 1949, the couple moved to Placerville, where Charlie took a job with Bank of America. During World War II, she worked as an air traffic controller and served in the Red Cross. In addition, she was a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in food science. The couple moved to Davis in 1970. In the early 1970s, she was very active in the Davis Branch of the League of Women Voters. She worked for many years as an admissions officer at UC Davis. After her retirement in 1990, she taught English as a second language to UC Davis foreign students. She also enjoyed volunteering her time with her many friends at the Sutter Davis Hospital Auxiliary and Yolo County Library Book Menders. She loved to travel and was especially interested in China. She was among the first group of American tourists to visit China after it ended its long isolation in the 1970s. She was also known for her sense of humor and kindness. She is greatly missed by her daughters, Sally Gibbs of Davis and Nancy Gibbs of Novato, as well as her son-in-law and two grandsons, all of Novato. Friends are invited to a memorial service that will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Unitarian Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road, Davis. Interment will be in Minnesota. David Gordon Gibson David Gordon Gibson died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at his Red Bluff home. He was 63. Born March 11, 1942, to Bill and Juanita (Halford) Gibson, he spent his youth in the Fresno area. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962, and was a truck driver for more than 30 years. Gibson is survived by his daughters, Gail and Nancy Gibson of Alaska, and Sue and Kathy Gibson of Michigan; sons, Glenn Gibson of Louisiana and David Gibson Jr. of Michigan; a brother, Donald Gibson of Woodland; and his father, William Gibson of Red Bluff. Preceding him in death was his mother, Juanita Gibson, and his brother, Dwayne Gibson. Private graveside services are scheduled with interment at Paskenta Cemetery. Juanita Ida Gibson Juanita Ida Gibson died in her hometown of Red Bluff Dec. 15, 2004. She was 83. Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Paskenta Cemetery in Tehema County. Born Sept. 1, 1921, in Peacock, Texas, she attended schools there and graduated from high school. After moving to California, she was a homemaker and farmer, working for the Kimber Ranch in Fremont for eight years. She was preceded in death by her son, Dewayne Alvin Gibson, in 1987; her brothers, Roddy Hallford and Albert Hallford; and her sister, Mary Hallford. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Alvin Gibson of Red Bluff; sons, Donald Gibson of Woodland and David Gibson of Red Bluff; a sister, Juanice Williams of Hollister; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Judy Gibson Judy Gibson, born August 29, 1938, died April 24, 2000 in Winters after a 20 year heroic battle with breast cancer. She died at home with her family at her bedside. An avid reader and bingo player, she was a homemaker who raised five children on her own and managed to go back to school to earn her associates degree in early childhood education at Cerritos Community College. She is survived by her mother, Cecilia Valenzano of Woodland, her brother, John Simmons and his wife, Doreen, of Sacramento, her brother, Jim Simmons and his wife, Pat, of Monroe, Louisiana, her sister, Jeanne Simmons, of Woodland. She also left behind her son, Michael Gibson, and his wife, Crystal, of Davis, her son, Patrick Gibson, and his wife, Tammy, of Woodland, her son John Gibson Sr., and his wife, Aimee, of West Sacramento, her daughter, Pam Gibson, and fiancee, Paul Cole, of Winters, and her daughter, Peggy Gibson, of Winters. She also left behind seven grandchildren, Krystal, James, William, John Jr., Sean, Joseph and Shannon. Several nieces and nephews were also left behind including Lee, Mara, Shana, Shay-Anne and Skye. Also mourning her loss are close friends, Reginald Long of West Hollywood and bingo partner Lydia Landeros of Davis. Judy will be remembered by her family and friends for her indomitable will, boundless love and kindness of spirit. Millard Raymond "Red" Gibson Millard Raymond "Red" Gibson died peacefully at his home in Brooks Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at the age of 79. Born Feb. 7, 1924 in Latham, Kansas to James and Rose Gibson, He resided in Yolo County for the last 66 years. Attended Esparto High School, was a World War II Navy Veteran, 5th Special Naval Construction Battalion. After returning from the Navy, Red worked for Bud Gordon 10 years and 27 years for Syar Industries, Inc. Red enjoyed the Annual 5th Special Reunions, bus trips to Reno, fishing, cutting wood, and spending time for his family and friends during his retirement years. Red was a member of the Esparto VFW. Survivors include son James E. Gibson and companion Cathy Roath, and daughters, Joyce Griffith and husband Gene, and Janis Anguay and husband Tom; five grandchildren, Clinton, Brenda, Debora, Phillip and Karen; and 12 great-grandchildren. Companion, Marlene Covington; brothers, Byron and Jerry Gibson; and sister, Lorene Robinson. Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Phyllis J. Gibson; brothers, George, James and Jack Gibson. Rodger D. Gibson Rodger D. Gibson died in Glendale, Ariz. Monday, Feb. 28 at age 55. Mr. Gibson was born April 26, 1949 in Woodland. He had been a Yolo County resident for 53 years. He is a 1967 graduate of Woodland High School and played on local softball teams. He was the general manager for Primesource Building Products for nine years. Survivors include Mr. Gibson's wife, Carol L. Gibson of Glendale, Ariz.; his children, Greg Gibson and his wife Kandi of Peoria, Ariz., Kirstin Truitt and her husband Gabe of Woodland and Alicia Gibson of Glendale, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Damian and Kailey Gibson of Peoria, Ariz. and Stacey Truitt of Woodland; his sisters, Joanna Luna and her husband David and Della Sorenson and her husband Troy all of Dixon and his brothers, Randy Gibson and his wife Teresa of Winslow, Ark. and Donnie Gibson of Mountainberg, Ark. William Alvin Gibson William Alvin Gibson died in Sierra Health Care Convalescent Hospital, Davis Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at age 82. Born Oct. 28, 1919, in Lexington, Ky., Mr. Gibson was the son of the late John and Helen Gibson. He was a long time resident of West Sacramento prior to moving to Davis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was employed by PG&E for 25 years last working as a senior map draftsman. According to his family members, "he was an avid golfer and played with a group from PG&E, the P.S.E.A. Golf Association. He also loved to fish." Mr. Gibson is survived by his daughter, Sandy Rangel of Woodland; grandchildren, Anthony Rangel of Colorado and Aaron Rangel of Woodland; and great-grandchildren, Ashton and Alyssa Rangel of Colorado and Claire Orbin-Rangel of Fairfield. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Kelley of Kentucky, Mimi Westerfield and Mary Jane Gibson, both of South Carolina; and brother, Robert Gibson of Kentucky. Fiorella I. Gielow Fiorella I. Gielow died Nov. 27, 2000, at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento. Born May 25, 1928, in Montalto DiCastro, Italy, she was 72. A 39-year resident of Davis, she worked for 30 years as staff research associate in the radio biology department at UC Davis. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Gielow, in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ornella Thompson of Georgia. She is survived by her son, Bill Gielow of Soquel, her daughter, Marisa Gielow of Woodland, her three brothers, Italo, Augusto and Tonio Passalacqua, all of Italy, her twin sister, Marisa Cottle of Davis, her grandson, Ryan Gielow of Pleasanton, her three nephews, Wendell, Glenn and Terence Cottle, as well as their wives and children. Jerald Edward Gilbert Jerald Edward Gilbert was born on June 19, 1960, in Woodland, Ca., to Harold and Shirley Gilbert. He was raised in Knights Landing and attended Grafton Elementary School. Jerry attended secondary school in Woodland and graduated from Woodland High School in 1978. Upon graduation from high school, Jerry attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He worked his way through college driving a student school bus, working on the family farm during the summers and working various positions in the Agri-business field. Long-time friends and high school sweethearts, Jerry and Tami were married on September 12, 1981. He completed his senior year at Cal Poly with the love and companionship from Tami. In 1982, Jerry graduated with a bachelors of Science Degree in Crop Science with concentrations in Agri-Business and Plant Protection. They moved to Woodland, where he was employed by Contadina Foods as a field representative. In 1984, Jerry and Tami relocated to Fresno where he accepted the position of District Manager. While in Fresno, they started their family and became the proud parents of Jason, their first child who was born in June 1986. In December of 1989, they moved back to Woodland upon Jerry accepting a promotion of Manager of Field Operations with Contadina. In May, 1990 their family grew when their daughter Jenna was born. In 1993 Jerry accepted a position with the Morning Star Packing Company, as the General Manager of the Williams processing facility. He continued in this position until January 2003, when he accepted the position of Vice President of Business Development for the Rio Bravo Tomato Company, in Bakersfield, Ca. During his youth, Jerry spent a lot of time on the family farm with his dad, uncle and brothers. He enjoyed his Uncle Lloyd's jokes, even though he heard those same jokes many times. It was the way that Uncle Lloyd told them that made Jerry laugh. He liked to hunt pheasants and dove on the ranch. He was active in Little League and Babe Ruth and really liked to play summer softball with his good buddies from high school. Jerry enjoyed entertaining both family and friends in his home. While, cooking, he liked to listen to his favorite music very loudly with the windows wide open and the house rockin.' Jerry was an avid golfer and shared his passion for golf with his son Jason. He was a member of the Yolo Fliers Club. Tami and Jenna also learned how to golf so that they could spend time together as a family foursome. Jerry truly loved his wife and sole mate of 22 years, Tami, and their two beautiful children, Jason and Jenna. Jerry ended his life on June 26, 2003. Also surviving Jerry are his parents, Harold and Shirley Gilbert of Knights Landing; brothers, John Gilbert and wife Debbie of Woodland, and Jeff Gilbert and wife Dee Dee of Knights Landing; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include his father- and mother-in-law, David and Louise Wallace of Woodland. Lillian J. Giles Lillian Giles dies at 101 A Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian “G.G.” Josephine Giles, 101, of Vacaville in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Vacaville, was held May 10. The Rev. James Murphy officiated. Burial followed in the Winters Cemetery. Mrs. Giles died May 7 in NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after an illness. Born Feb. 16, 1890, in a farmhouse in Grafton, Walsh County, Grafton, North Dakota, she moved to Vacaville nine years ago. She was a gourmet cook for many years in Deluth, Minnesota. She had her autobiography, “100 Years with Lillie” published in 1990. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the McBride Senior Center. Mrs. Giles was preceded in death by her son, George, and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Stepnes of San Jose and Rhoda Laughy of Vacaville; daughter-in-law, Violet Giles of Ruskin, Florida; sister, Eleanor Mausten of Minneapolis; ten grandchildren, including Katheryn Pranke of Winters; 20 great-grandchildren including Brett and Stephanie Gruben of Winters; 10 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. George Herbert "Herb" Gill George "Herb" Gill passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 in his Winters home. Born on Dec. 23, 1914, in San Diego, he was 87 years old. Herb graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1938, with a degree in electronic and mechanical engineering. As a professional engineer he made significant contributions in developing aircraft, missiles, naval undersea research, as well as solar energy and other commercial engineering applications. He also shaped his knowledge as a teacher at the University of Kansas, University of New Mexico and D. Q. University. He authored two technical books, 14 patents and numerous magazine articles. Herb loved prospecting, fishing, boating and his wife and family above all else. His family will always treasure the memories in Winters and the vicinity for 18 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia, of Winters; children Richard Gill of Bakersfield, Mary Thomason of West Jordan, Utah and Elizabeth Siracusa of Winters. He is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 28, at Smith's Colonial Chapel in Winters. Burial followed at the Winters Cemetery. Because Herb loved research, reading and sharing knowledge, his family suggests remembrances be made in his name to the Winters friends of the Library. Luella 'Lou' Dee Gillespie Luella "Lou" Dee Gillespie of Roseville died in Sacramento Saturday, Feb. 26 at age 72. Luella was born Sept. 2, 1932 in Roswell, N.M. She had been a Woodland resident for two years. She was retired from Los Angeles County after 27 years of service and was an EKG technician at Hi-Desert Hospital in Lancaster. Luella loved her family and loved to be surrounded by them, especially during the holiday seasons. She loved gardening, sewing, needle work and going to the movies. She was a wonderful mother and sister and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Survivors include Luella's daughter, Valerie Bair of Roseville; her son, Michael Dunn of Libby, Mont.; her grandchildren, Deanna St. Amour of Mesa, Ariz. and Douglas McKeon of Roseville; three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lea Hall of Berry Creek, Calif., Alva Elliott of Kealakekua, Hawaii and Betty Domitrovich of Hobbs, N.M.; her brother, Robert Roberts of Manley Hot Springs, Ark. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and several sisters and brothers. Sydni K. Gillette (1st of 2 obituaries) Sydni was born July 15, 1947 and died at home March 24, 2005 after a long battle with breast cancer. Sydni was a Woodland native. She attended local schools and graduated from Woodland High School in 1965. She attended secretarial school in San Francisco after which she began working for UC Davis. She was employed at UC Davis until December, when her illness forced her to take a leave of absence. Friends and family know that Sydni loved to shop! Shoes, clothes, jewelry, holiday decorations, anything. She also loved to travel and celebrate holidays. Anytime anyone went anywhere, she was the first one ready to go. She enjoyed old cars and craft shows and if you could combine the two it was even better. She is survived by her daughter, Tamara Young; long-time companion, Bernard Hendrix Jr.; mother, Dorothy Wood and sister, Shirley Watts and husband Woody. Also, stepdaughter, Denise Teuscher and stepsons, Jeff Hendrix and wife Annisa, Simon Lang and wife Rhonda and Chuck Lang and wife Harper. Sydni had six grandchildren, Trevor and Ethan Young, Kaylee and Brad Teuscher, Charles Lang and Chanise Hendrix. Sydni also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Sandra Elizabeth Gilley Sandra Elizabeth Gilley, a 32-year resident of Davis, died Thursday after a lengthy illness. She was 65. Born Sept. 14, 1938, in Phoenix, she was raised in San Jose and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1956. She attended San Jose State University. She married Curtiss William Gilley on July 12, 1958, and the couple moved to Davis in September 1972. The Gilleys were active in the Davis community. A traveler, who also enjoyed water and snow skiing, Gilley's last trip was a Mediterranean cruise in 1998. She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Crowell, and by her in-laws Margaret and Ralph Gilley. Survivors include her husband, Curtiss Gilley of Davis; her mother, Bertha Crowell; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Jack Goldberg of Davis; son, Mark Gilley and his life partner Dave Gootee of Chicago; two sisters, Suzanne Kubinak and Nanette Dobrowski; grandson Kevin and his fianc/e Sheri of Davis; granddaughter Ryan of Davis; and great-grandson Jason of Davis. She also will be missed by her friend and caregiver Carie Rushworth of Vacaville and numerous nieces and nephews. Alexander J. Gillis Alexander J. Gillis, a retired 30-year veteran of the U.S. Army, and former Davis resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 77. He was born on Oct. 1, 1924, in Pontiac, Mich. He served during three wars and rose from private to chief warrant officer in a career that took him around the world. He served in Saudi Arabia for 20 years and maintained a residence in England. He later returned to the United States and was employed with the Environmental Protection Agency until he was 70. He served as an independent contractor in Bosnia, supporting U.S. troops until he was 72. He was a witness to five American conflicts and a man of many travels. His first wife, Catherine Gillis and one son, Christopher Gillis, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Martin Gillis of Granbury, Texas; two sons, Steven Gillis, and Jay Gillis and his wife Mary, of Davis; two daughters, Robin Flores and husband Mike of Granbury, Texas; and Heather Peterson and husband Tim of Grass Valley. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Joseph Peterson of Grass Valley; Amanda and Hannah Gillis of Davis; and Ashley and Nolan Flores of Granbury, Texas. James R. Gillis James R. Gillis died Jan. 29, 2001, at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento. Born in Wood-river, Ill. on Oct. 19, 1927, he was 73. He graduated from Woodriver High School and then Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict, then went to work as a foreign affairs agent for the CIA for 23 years. In later years he was a real estate agent in Davis for 20 years. He loved animals, birds and was a member of the Friends of the Davis Library. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Madeline Gillis of Davis. He is survived by his son, John R. Gillis of St. Helena; his daughter, Carol Gillis of Vacaville; his brother, Hudson Gillis of Albuquerque, N.M., four nieces and four nephews. Edward Woodrow Ginsburg Edward Woodrow Ginsburg died on July 22, 2002, in Danville at the age of 84. Ginsburg is the beloved father of Susan (Ginsburg) Rios Brundage, Ken Brundage, Karen Ginsburg Berliner and Paul Berliner. He is the grandfather of Julie Koda, Daniel and Rachel Berliner and the great-grandfather of Jerico Koda. He is also a dear uncle and cousin to many others. He was born on April 1, 1918, and was active in many organizations throughout his life. Those organizations include Temple Emanuel in San Francisco, Temple Emanuel in San Jose, Congregation B'nai Israel in Daly City, San Francisco Press Club, Marines Memorial Club, Doelger Senior Center in Daly City and Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living in Danville. He was also a World War II veteran. He was a larger-than-life storyteller who had a zest for living. He will be remembered by all who knew him. He was preceded in death on April, 18, 2002, by his wife of 61 years, Mollie Mindlin Ginsburg. Mollie M. Ginsburg Mollie Mindlin Ginsburg died April 18, 2002, in Danville. She was 88 years old. She was a graduate of Mt. Zion and UC Berkeley and worked as a registered nurse for 35 years. She was a San Francisco junior women's tennis champion, a dancer in the corps des ballet, and a riveter during World War II. She was a longtime member of Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco and was active in many causes, classes and groups. She always had a zest for life and people, and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward Ginsburg; her daughters, Susan Rios Brundage and her husband Ken and Karen Ginsburg Berliner of Davis and her husband Paul; her grandchildren, Julie Rios Koda and Daniel and Rachel Berliner; her great-grandchild, Jerico Koda; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Don GIOVANNETTI (1944-2002) (obit.) Don Giovannetti Don Giovannetti died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at age 57. Born Aug. 4, 1944, Mr. Giovannetti was a lifelong resident of Woodland. He attended Holy Rosary Grammar School and went on to attend Christian Brothers High School and graduated from Bishop Armstrong High School in Sacramento. After high school he went directly into the family business, Half Moon Fruit & Produce, as a third generation agricultural owner-operator. He worked in the business for over 40 years with his father B.E. "Buster" Giovannetti, twin brother Ron Giovannetti of Yuba City and Brother John Giovannetti of Lemoore. Before his recent retirement from Half Moon, his primary duties were sales and marketing of the company's fresh produce as Head of Sales. His outgoing personality made him an industry favorite allowing him to cultivate lifelong relationships with customers throughout the world. His fourth brother, E.J. Giovannetti, was involved with the family business for a brief time before moving to Iowa where he is a partner in a law firm. In addition to working for Half Moon, he was also an active member in the agricultural community. He served as an international liaison for the U.S. Government teaching South American farmers modern growing practices in the late 70s. Additionally, he was very active with the Western Growers Association, serving on the Board of Directors in 1994. Locally, he was involved with the Woodland Elks, serving as a trustee. He served as the Yolo County Chairman of the California Waterfowl Association and was an active member of the Yolo Fliers Club. Mr. Giovannetti was married to local resident, Adele Abele in 1967 and is survived by his children, sons, Bryan and wife Margaret and their daughter, Hannah Rose, and Jeremy and wife Chris and their daughter, Lauren Grace; and daughter, Mary Jo and husband Matt Holleron. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Norma Giovannetti of Yuba City and Debbie Giovannetti of Lemoore; nephews, Adam Giovannetti of San Luis Obispo and Mark Giovannetti and wife Chris of Iowa; and nieces, Maureen Giovannetti of San Diego and Beth Giovannetti of Virginia. Visitation is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, March 4, at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland, with a rosary scheduled to be recited at 7 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Woodland. Mary E. Giovannetti Mary Elizabeth Giovannetti died at her Woodland residence on March 1, 2000. She was 85 years old. She was born on June 23, 1914, in County Lough, Dundulk, Ireland, to the late Joseph and Agnes (Donegan) Marron. She earned her nursing degree from the Mercy Hospital in San Pedro and Mercy Hospital in Modesto. Married to Buster Giovannetti on March 30, 1940, at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in San Pedro, she had been a resident of Woodland for the past 60 years. In addition to working with her husband in the family business, Half Moon Fruit and Produce in Woodland for 33 years as executive vice president, she maintained her registered nursing credentials from 1936 to 1994 and performed volunteer private nursing for many local family and friends. She was also past chairman for the Yolo County March of Dimes, volunteered for the Blood Bank, was an active member of the Holy Rosary Parish and the Holy Rosary Church Altar Society for many years and served as past president of the Holy Rosary Mother's Club and Holy Rosary School. She also enjoyed family gatherings and Irish music. She is survived by her husband, Buster Giovannetti of Woodland; her sons, E.J. Giovannetti and his wife Dee of Urbandale, Iowa, Ron Giovannetti and his wife Norma of Yuba City, Don Giovannetti and his wife Adele of Woodland, and John Giovannetti and his wife Debbie of Lemoore; grandchildren, Mark Giovannetti and his wife Christine of Iowa, Elizabeth Giovannetti of Washington D.C., Bryan Giovannetti of Woodland, Jeremy Giovannetti and wife Christine of Davis, Mary Jo Giovannetti and fiancee Matthew of Woodland, Adam and Maureen Giovannetti of Lemoore; two great-grandchildren, Hanna of Woodland and Emily of Iowa; and two sisters, Eileen Gaither of New Orleans and Agnes Zartman of San Gabriel. She was purchasing agent for Foremost-McKesson in San Francisco for more than 19 years and worked for the Triangle T Ranch in Oakland for 16 years. Sceatta F. Gittinger Sceatta Foster Gittinger died April 6, 2000, at Sierra Health Care in Davis. Born Jan. 21, 1902, in McLean County, Ill., she was 98. She was raised in Oklahoma. She came to Davis with her husband in 1929 and has been a resident for the past 71 years. When she and her husband came to Davis there were 300 faculty members and 300 students at UC Davis. The population of Davis was less than 1,500. She was active in the General Federation of Women's Clubs and in particular its local group, Monday Alpha. She and her husband served on the Presbytery Mariner Board. She was also a participant in the University Farm Circle and a member of Davis Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Price Gittinger, on March 16, 1969. She is survived by her children, James Price Gittinger II of Washington, D.C., and Frances Anna Gittinger of Davis. Irving "Itsie" Glick Irving "Itsie" Glick of Quincy, Massachusetts, died at the Quincy Hospital on April 20, 2003, following a brief illness. He was 86 years old. Mr. Glick was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He was a resident of Quincy since 1951. Mr. Glick owned and operated Edison Motor Car Company in Millis from 1951 to 1995. He was a member of the Automobile Dealers Association, Camp Gruber, which was his military outfit, and the Quincy J.C.C. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was survived by his wife Rachel; son, Dr. Richard Glick of Cranston, Rhode Island; daughter Linda Glick of Winters and grandchildren Laura Cheryl Glick, Hava Glick-Landes and Zachary Glick-Landes. Thornton S. Glide, Sr. Funeral Services Held for Thornton S. Glide, Pioneer. Private funeral services were held at 11 am yesterday in East Lawn Chapel in Sacramento for Thorton (sic) S. Glide, Sr., prominent farmer in Yolo County with large holdings southeast of Davis. He has worked thousands of acres of land in and west of the by-pass and owned range land in the Winters area. The son of the late Joseph Henry Glide and Lizzie Snider Glide, daughter of a pioneer Sacramento physician. Mr. Glide was born in England on His father's farm in Somersetshire. Mr. Glide is survived by his wife, Margarette S. Glide, a son, Thornton of Davis, and a daughter, Mrs. Peggy G. Colby; two sisters, Mrs. Seldon Williams and Mrs. Wula Elliot, both of Berkeley, and a grand daughter. Robert W. Glock Robert W. Glock, retired associate vice chancellor of UC Davis, died Nov. 12, 2000, at his home in El Macero. He was 83. He was well-known to the community, having served as a member of the Davis Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Davis Rotary Club at times during his 20 years with UCD. He was the university's chief of budget operations until his retirement in 1986. He was born in Webster, Wis., on Aug. 14, 1917, to Theodore and Helen Glock. He grew up in Minneapolis and worked his way through the University of Minnesota, graduating with a bachelor's degree, and quickly entering military service in World War II. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1965 at stations in Heidelberg, Germany; Cairo, Egypt; Shanghai, China; and the Panama Canal zone. At the time of his retirement, Col. Glock was chief of the central finance and accounting office for all U.S. military operations in Europe and the Middle East. After retiring from the Army, he returned to college at UC Los Angeles, where he earned an MBA. He was hired in 1966 at UCD, where his business, management and accounting skills were quickly realized by then-Chancellor Emil Mrak. Second only to UCD was his dedication to El Macero Country Club, to which he dedicated years of financial advisory service. He was president of the board of directors in 1975. At one time during that period, when the club was without a manager, he put aside his regular affairs and assumed temporary full management duties there. For the past 10 years, he served as chairman of the board's finance committee. His many other civic duties included service on the El Macero Advisory Committee to the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. He was a dedicated golfer whose fascination with the game continued unabated until his illness about five months ago. His playing group was so regular that it was commonly referred to as "the Bob Glock foursome." He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Miriam Glock. They were married during WWII, in 1942. He is also survived by his brother, William A. Glock of Hot Springs, Ark. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the Davis Lutheran Church, 317 E. Norman “Norm” R. Glover Norman “Norm” R. Glover died at Woodland Memorial Hospital at age 67. Mr. Glover was born in Martinez July 18, 1938. He had been a Woodland resident for 34 years. A graduate of Chico State University, he served in the U.S. Army as a medic. In 1965 he became a banker and first worked for Crocker Bank from 1965 to 1972, than moved to Woodland after accepting a position with Farm Credit from 1972 to 1990. In July of 1990, he joined First Northern Bank where he retired in May of 2005. In 1995, he was honored as the Agri-Business Person of the Year at the annual Farm City Night Banquet. He also worked with livestock, especially sheep, at the ranch in Acampo. He volunteered as a 4-H leader for 24 years, as well as at the Yolo County Fair for more than 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy; his daughter, Trish Reiff and her husband Mike; his son, Frank and his wife Kelly, all of Woodland; his grandchildren, Carter and Tayler Reiff and Sebastian and Brayden Glover, all of Woodland; his brothers, Gordon Glover of Long Beach and Stephen Glover and his wife Bernadette of Galt/Bend, Ore.; his stepsister, Kay Hoffman of San Diego; stepbrothers, Roger Hoffman of Salt Lake City and Gary Hoffman of San Diego; and father-in-law, Elwyn "Greg" Gregory of Woodland. Nettie Grace Gnevo Nettie Grace Gnevo died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at age 88. Born July 10, 1915, near Loomis, Mrs. Gnevo had been a Yolo County resident for 21 years. She retired from State Board of Equalization after 25 years as an account clerk. She was a life member of Sacramento Valley Live Steam Club. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Cline and husband Charlie, Sharon Kocsis and husband David of Woodland, Diana Ellis of West Sacramento; grandchildren, Suzan Thomas and husband Dale, Jeffrey Ellis and wife Kathy of West Sacramento, Shawn Cline of Knights Landing, Jennifer Cline, Jill Blim, Bryan Kocsis of Woodland; great-grandchildren, Charlie Cline, Shawndra Grey and husband Ben, Wynndra Cline, Shane and Courtney Blim of Woodland; and great-great-grandchildren, Noah Cline Grey and Emily Grey of Woodland. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Gnevo; and son, Michel Gnevo. The family requests that memorials be sent to Sacramento Valley Live Steamers. Arrangements are under the direction of George L. Klumpp, Chapel of Flowers. Services: A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at Klumpps Funeral Home of Sacramento, with a burial to follow at East Lawn Memorial Park of Sacramento.
