York, Thomas
Redding Record-Searchlight, Monday, May 26, 1947

Thomas York, about 45, a native of Russia, was found dead yesterday morning in his tent near the Pacific Gas and Electric company substation at Cottonwood. He was employed there by the Larsen Construction company.

Coroner Claude Whiteman said he believed death to be due to heart failure. An autopsy may be performed. York was discovered dead when companions tried to rouse him for breakfast. Whiteman said that the fact that York had been beaten a week before in an alley scuffle may have contributed to his death.

York leaves two children in a Sacramento home. He had been living in Cottonwood for the past 10 months.
