Need help finding family or anyone with knowledge of William GIBSON born 20 Apr 1898 and deceased Vista, San Diego Co., CA Sep 1963, SSN issued South Dakota before 1951. Believe he is grandson of my Grandfather Richard EGGLESTON's sister Orilla (EGGLESTON) GIBSON of Bixby/Seim, SD, born c1855 daughter of Alpheus EGGLESTON (Alpheus b 4 Jul 1830 Portage Co. OH, d Osceola, IA 9 May 1905 and Mary BEUTELON d. Osceola, Clarke Co., IA 15 May 1892). Orilla & husband Joseph W. GIBSON were living in Bixby, South Dakota and also known to live in Sein, SD. Orilla was still alive in SDak in 1925. 13th U. S Census Vol. 24, 1910 - Orilla, age 55, and Joseph W. GIBSON, age 60, living in Moreau Precinct. They had two children - son Jack GIBSON listed on same census page, age 30, widower with two sons living with him - William, age 7 and Harold, age 1. Joseph and son Jack both listed as occupation "farm operator". I have Orilla and Joseph's Osceola, Clarke Co., IA marriage record (1877).

Their son Jack GIBSON born in IA three years (1880) after Joseph and Orilla were married. At some point, they left Clarke Co.with two of my Grandpa's other sisters for Nebraska before separating and turning northward to South Dakota. My grandfather was Clarke Co., IA Marshall when tragically killed on duty in the 22 November 1917 Osceola town fire & explosion. My Grandpa's family became scattered and lost touch. I have much genealogy and family history to freely share with Orilla's and William's descendants, including 7 documented lines of direct Mayflower descent.

I am trying to obtain genealogical information (ascendants and descendants) about my great grandmother, Anna PISKAC, born in Czechoslovakia between September 19, 1889 and September 18, 1890. She immigrated into the U.S. and apparently settled in Chicago, Illinois prior to September of 1909 (prior to age 19), probably with her other siblings (at least two sisters, Emily and unknown) and their mother (name unknown). Anna was definitely living in Chicago, Illinois in September of 1909. Anna supposedly migrated from Illinois to Southern California (likely San Diego County) some time after September, 1909, probably with, or following, her mother and certain other siblings and neices/nephews, and quite possibly around 1926-1927. She married and had children with Harry MANSFIELD, apparently staying in San Diego County after ~1926-1927, but I do not know whether she was married in Chicago (Cooke County, Illinois) or San Diego County, or which location the children were born in. Anna's sister, Emily (PISKAC) MARTIN, lived in San Diego County (La Mesa) with her husband James ("Hap") MARTIN during a good part of the latter 20th century (both deceased at an elderly age during the 1980's), and had a daughter named Veronica ("Vera") MARTIN. Vera's married name was FAGUNDES. It is thought that Anna's eldest sister (name unknown) had a daughter named D. (probably Dorothy or Dorothea) (PISKAC) METZGER who currently resides in Poway (San Diego County) and is in her 80's. She apparently has no children (she is still living). As an aside, Anna had a son, born 18 Sep 1909 in Chicago, Illinois, with Walter Perry JOHNSON, a Hall of Fame (1936 induction) baseball pitcher for the Washington Senators. His location at son's DOB was Omaha, Nebraska. They were unwed. The son was named Thomas Walter JOHNSON. He was raised by Anna's mother, around or with various cousins. He moved from Chicago to San Diego when he was 17-18 years of age, which would have been ~1926-27. At age ~19 (~1928), he married Kathleen Daisy ARGO and had a daughter on May 30, 1932, Noreen Joan JOHNSON. Thomas died on October 31, 1971. Noreen married Robert Frank CROSSMAN (born in Michigan on September 28, 1929), and had five children (Deborah, Martin, Kenneth, Rodney and Terese CROSSMAN) -- all seven CROSSMAN's are still living. Any information that could be provided on this family tree would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for any information relating to Castanos & Theresa PAINE who emigrated from Maine in approximately 1869 and settled in the Poway area. It is my understanding that Castanos was the first postmaster at Poway and later lived in the San Pasqual and Julian areas. My wife is his great- great grandaughter. I understand that there are biographical sketches of Mr. PAINE in the 1883 and 1907 histories of San Diego County and I've been told that the San Diego newspaper did an article (perhaps more than one) before his death in March, 1913 (?). I am willing to reimburse expenses associated with copying, etc.
