I would like to find some information on a relative who last lived in
San Diego Co. All I know is that she was a ARMSTRONG and her husband
died, then she remarried a h.s. english teacher by the name of Turner.
She was born around 1911 and lived most if not all in San Diego County
till she died. I believe she had 1 child. Cant tell for sure, but I
think his name was William (?)ARMSTRONG. He was born the same year as
a cousin which would be 1937. That is about all I know about her, family

I am looking for my daughter. She was born in Nupai, Paju, Korea on
11 Aug 1962. The date of her birth on any adoption paperwork could vary
because of the lunar calendar and translation problems. Possibly the
date could be 9 Sep., 1962. Her given name was Ena (Ina) Kim. Her adoption
was forced by a baby broker. She left Korea, from Kimpo Airport, in
Sep.,1966. I thought she lived in California for awhile as a child,
but she may have lived in New York or New Jersey. Her American family
may have given her the name Mary. The man who adopted her was in his
50's in 1966 and a song composer of some type. He and his wife had raised
a adopted son who was in his 20's in 1966 and was a college graduate,
who had attended school with the man, a Mr. Yun, who arranged the adoption.
Mr. Yun was from Seoul, Korea. Ena's father was an American soldier.
She had brown hair and eyes as a child. She only spoke Korean before
she left for the US other than a few English words. She learned this
English because Mr. Yun took her to Seoul for several weeks for English
lessons at his home in 1966. She had a scar on her back from a burn.

Hoping to find someone who might know something about my 107 year-old
great aunt Wilhelmina BUELOW THOM WOOD. Born in Prussia on 10 August,
1838 she and her family migrated to Portage County, WI in the early
1880's from short stay in Liverpool, England. Sometime around the turn
of the century the family (THOM) traveled west to Marshfield (Coos Bay),
OR. After the death of her husband, Julius THOM, she met and married
John L. WOOD, an Oregon prune grower. At an unknown time , she and part
of her family moved to the San Diego area where she died in 1946.

Seeking biographical information about John Sprague BARKER and Maria
MARRON BARKER, my great grandparents. Maria was born in San Diego in
1834, daughter of Juan Maria and Felipa OSUNA MARRON. John Sprague BARKER
was born in 1813 in Boston. They were married at San Diego and are listed
in the 1850 San Diego County census, moving shortly thereafter to Los
Angeles. He also went by Juan BARKER and had a store near Olvera Street
in Los Angeles. Children were: Theophilus J. BARKER, Eliza BARKER, Isabella
BARKER, John BARKER, and Theodore BARKER.

My 2cd cousin, Nick/Nicholas SYLVESTER lived with his wife @ 2509 Crest
Top Lane, Spring Valley, CA for six years, approx. 1986-92. Abt.1992,
he had just retired from lcoal military duty, prob. USN. After that,

that his wife travelled, insepcting health facilities, and a son was

family from Appleton, MN to California 1900-1915, settling in San Diego.
Carlton was a jeweler-watchmaker, and I believe reopened his business
once settled in San Diego. He was born in MN in 1859. CHRISTINA [SCHOEN]
was born in Sweden in 1866. Family tradition has it that her father(?)
was a Swedish ship's captain who retired in MN. They were married in
MN. They had 3 sons prior to moving west: William Carlton b.8/18/1893,
Archie Wellington b.9/2/1896 and Russell Hamilton (my father) b.6/61899.
The first two stayed in Southern CA to become San Diego's Chief Water
Engineer and an HVAC contractor respectively; Russell moved to the San
Francisco Bay Area to attend UCBerkeley and stayed, becoming an Electrical
Distribution Engineer for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. Any help will be

I am trying to find data on my husband's gr grandparents Jonathan Lambert
RAYNER and Sara LOCKHART RAYNER who did live in San Diego County, CA
before 1912 and had moved to AZ to homestead for awhile, where he died.
His body was then shipped back to CA and he was buried in a cemetery
in Vista, CA. She then came back to CA at one point and was living with
family in Compton CA. She died in late 1950's or in 1960's and was buried
in Vista, CA cemetery as well. I want to find their exact death dates

My grandfather, HAROLD FRANKLIN HAGEL was supposedly buried in Ft. Rosecrans,
1956. He was born 9/14/1900 or 1903 in a covered wagon enroute from
Calgary, ALberta to Chehalis, Washington...so we don't know if he's
Canadian or America. He did fight in the 24th during WWII. His mother's
name may have been Mary, we are hoping it may be listed in some kind
of Death Certificate, or some such record. Currently have requests out
to the military, but have not returned anything.

I am looking for the descendants of David Robinson BLACKIE; died 5/15/40,
on his 68th birthday, in San Diego, according to California Death Records.
He is my g-g uncle, brother to my great-grandfather, James Ramsey BLACKIE.
He was born 5/15/1872 in Canada. He seems to have been the "black
sheep" of the family. What we do know is that he married Hettie
WYNNE in Toronto area, late 1890s, had a son, James Douglas BLACKIE,
(also, descendants unknown); Hettie died several months after James'
birth. David immigrated to Cleveland, married a Margaret JONES of Akron
in 1906, and the next 34 years is a blank regarding David's life, until
his death in '40, which I just discovered a few days ago. If there are
descendants, whether children and/or grandchildren, there are first
and second cousins that still survive and would want to know. Some did
not know they had an Uncle David 'til a reunion I hosted in '98. Another
BLACKIE reunion is planned this year in Sept., in New Hampshire! Hoping
we would have answers by then.

I am trying to find the descendants of James S. GROVES and his wife
Bonnie GROVES. James GROVES was a local architect and a 6 year San Diego
resident starting in approximately 1925. His business address was 521
B Street and his last home address was 2854 Dove Street, San Diego.
My wife and I purchased the house at 2854 Dove Street in May of 1998.
It is a Spanish Revival style house, built in 1931, with some very interesting
interior features. One of the most striking features is ceilings in
the entry hall and dining room that are very ornately painted, artist
unknown. We were told that they were painted by the daughter of the
original owner/builder which would be Mr. Groves. James Groves died
on May 13, 1932 at the age of 41. He was survived by his wife Bonnie,
two sons and two daughters. We would like to locate any descendants
who may still be in the San Diego area and see if they can help us identify

I am researching my CARLSON family. I have just received some information
that a missing relative has been found. Her name was Effie Lorraine
(CARLSON) MARTIN. Effie usuually went by her middle name Lorraine. She

Info for persons searching for 1800-1940's San Diego CEMETARY INFORMATION.
There is an extremely old cemetary in San Diego. About 25 yrs ago they
moved all the old headstones to one side of the property and turned
the area into a community park. I do not know what the name of the cemetary
was. If you are in the San Diego area, find Pringle St. on a map. The
park is surrounded by Pringle St. and a school. A new retaining wall
has been up up on the north side. The south side still has the original
adobe block wall with an opening to the cemetary. This is in the older
Hillcrest section of San Diego. It is approximately 7 miles from the

His dad was William Edward Gourley. His dad was Charles M. Gourley.
They supposedly had cousins in Missouri and California. I would love
to hear from anyone who thinks they are in this family. William "ED"

Researching MARTIN and CARLSON. I am looking for any information that
someone may know out there about an Effie Lorrain CARLSON - Married
name was MARTIN. Effie went by her middle name Lorraine. Her husbands
first name may have been Jack but I don't know this for sure. Effie
Lorraine (CARLSON) MARTIN's parents were Henry Alexander CARLSON and
Hilda W. OLSON. Her parents were married in Minden, Nebraska on Dec
31, 1889. Effie Lorraine was born probably of November of 1891. Henry
Alexander CARLSON was the brother of my Great Grandfather John Andrew
CARLSON. I have lots information that I would be willing to share with

IL. 11/25/1905 died San Diego CA. 4/11/1973. He is listed in the Swedish
Lutheran Church Archives of Chicago as Teodor Fritjof Alexander STARK.
He has one known sister, Viola Dorthea STARK. Theodore's father is Carl
Johan Olaf STARK and Mother is Anna (NISLE) STARK. Theodores father
had a brother Adolph STARK that moved to Ventura County CA. This family
came from Sweden to Chicago IL.

Hello: I'm trying to find information on my grandfather, Salvador FISHER's
family. Salvador had a barber shop in downtown San Diego in the 1920's
and 1930's before moving his barber shop to Tijuana Baja CA Mexico in
the late 1930's. Salvador FISHER died in Tijuana about 1961. Salvador
FISHER was the son of William FISHER of Santa Clara CA USA and San Jose
del Cabo Baja California Mexico. The last time my father saw his father's
family was at his grandfather's funeral in San Diego about 1943. The
name of my grandfather's siblings Eleanor FISHER, Manuela FISHER, Lillie
FISHER, Aurora (Dora) FISHER, (spouse Ernest CASTRO), Cypriano FISHER,

Looking for father of Algernon Cidney CREASEY (b. SD 1907, d. San Diego
7-9-79,) Algernon "Lonnie" Creasey Sr. Algernon Sr. left SD

I am looking for info. on a David Franklin WATKINS. He lived in Escondido
in the 1920s and 30s. He died in 1935 and is buried in San Marcos. I

can about this man. He was married to Nara HARER WATKINS and they had
five children who were grown by the time they moved to Escondido. I
believe three of the children moved to Escondido also. I am also looking

Looking for info on the niece of my great grandfather, Elizabeth Smith
She was the daughter of Hannah Hutcinson and Dan Smith. In 1936, Hannah
was living in New York State. She married Bill Higgins and thier daughter
Ellie Rhodes Higgins was born in Dec 1940 in San Diego. I have photos
of Elizabeth and Ellie during WW II, mentioning that Ellies father,
Bill, was away at the war. All contact with them was lost after about
1945. Any info on them would be greatly appreciated.

I'm desperate to find a poster of a map showing the original areas of
the San Diego County historical ranchos. I was given a print (24x30)
of a piece of art that was commissioned by California Federal Savings
for the Los Angeles Bicentennial. Titled "Historic Ranchos of Los
Angeles County," this artwork mapped the divisions of the original
ranchos of Los Angeles. It was beautifully done. I'm looking for something
similar for San Diego County. Does something like this exist? If so,
can you provide more information to me with regard as to how I can obtain
a print? Any information you can provide would be much appreciated.
