Wm. A. Goodfellow Funeral Services This Afternoon
Hovering between life and death for several days, William Arthur Goodfellow passed away Wednesday night at his home on Pine Street. He was born in Plumas County 61 years ago, had lived in Lassen County 55 years, and upon reaching manhood engaged in ranching and kindred activities, at various times being located in Willow Creek Valley, Johnstonville and Westwood until retirement about 10 years ago.
More than 30 years ago while operating a dairy on the Arnold estate near Susanville he was first to introduce sanitary milk bottle in Susanville, displacing the pans, crocks, or pails into which the milkman poured from his can by dipper. Later for a period of five years, Mr. Goodfellow was engaged in the butcher business in Westwood.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Alta Goodfellow, and eight sons and daughters; Thomas A. Goodfellow and Mrs. Gladys Scott of Burney; Wm. Arthur Jr. of Susanville; Charles, David and Lola May Goodfellow of Burney; Mrs. Eleanor Bangle of Susanville, Mrs. Dorothy Dunkle of Central Valley and Mrs. Francis Tryon of Tacoma, Wash.
Funeral services were conducted this afternoon from the Morrill and Hornshuh chapel at 2 o'clock by E. L. Spaulding, Baptist Minister, and Mrs. C.W. Morrill assisted with appropriate musical numbers. Pallbearers were John Ruff, Henry Rush, John Conlin, Sam Sutton, Oscar Woods, and Bert Carmen. Interment was in the Susanville Cemetery.
