Well Known Local Woman Passes Away

Mrs. Mary Pate a well known resident of Monterey and member of one of the oldest pioneer families in the city passed away at her home 727 Abrego street Saturday, where she had been confined with illness for several months.

Mrs. Pate was the devoted mother of the late Dorothy Pate, daughter of the late Esperdion Vasquez, and loving sister of the late Esperdion Vasquez Jr., Peter Vasquez, and Mrs. Elvira Martinez, all of whom lived here.

She leaves behind to morn her loss her husband John Pate; her mother Mrs. Esperdion Vasquez; her daughter Mrs. Grace Girrote of Watsonville; four sons Edmond, Henry, Robert, and Stewart Pate; two sisters Mrs. Anna Fancher and Mrs. T Crawford; two brothers Tony and David Vasquez; beside two grandchildren.

Mrs. Pate was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe society and was forty-six years and three months of age at the time of her passing. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning from the home of her mother Mrs. E. Vasquez 732 Abrego, where it will proceed to the San Carlos church, where mass will be said at 9:30.

Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend the funeral.
