Mrs. Mary Butler Dies After Choking

Mrs. Mary A. Butler, 89, died suddenly Saturday evening at her home at 156 Maple avenue after choking on food. The rescue squad of the Watsonville fire department was called to the home but was unable to aid.

Mrs. Butler was the widow of Joseph Butler. She was a native of Monterey, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pete Artellan, pioneer residents of that city. She was a member of St. Patrick's church. She had lived here 48 years.

She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Emily Dameron of Salinas, Mrs. Jennie Mulrey of Redwood City, Mrs. Minnie Hoover of Watsonville and Mrs. Ida Thompson of Watsonville; three sons, William Butler of Salinas, Jerome Butler of Oakland and Fred Butler of Watsonville; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at White's mortuary followed at 9 a.m. by requiem mass at St. Patrick's church. Burial will be in San Carlos Catholic cemetery in Monterey. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at White's chapel.

Funeral Services Mary A. Butler

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at White's mortuary for Mrs. Mary A. Butler. Requiem mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's church by the Very Rev. Msgr, John F. Durkin. Burial was in San Carlos Catholic cemetery at Monterey. Pallbearers were Jack and Eddie Hoover, Bobby and Arthur Mulrey, Buddy Butler and Lee Hushbeck.
