Frank Barcellos

Frank Barcellos, a long time Hanford resident was 93, when he passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. 

Frank was born on February 12, 1915 in Tulare. At the age of 5, his parents immigrated with his two brothers and two sisters to Terceira, Azores Island, at the age of 22, he and his brother Manuel returned to California. Frank worked in various jobs in Tulare and Southern California areas. He met Mary Ormonde of Tulare at a wedding January 1, 1945 and were married September 20, 1945 in Porterville. Frank became partners with his father-in-law Manuel Ormonde in the dairy business. His eldest son, Lionel, was born in Porterville, 1946. In 1948, Frank and his family moved his portion of dairy cows to a dairy farm in Hanford. In 1949 their second son, Dean, was born. Their youngest son Mervin was born in 1951, the same year they moved their dairy to the present location. 

Until his death, Frank was still an active partner with his sons, Lionel and Dean in the dairy business. He was a member of Land O'Lakes Creamery, United Western Dairyman, and California Dairy Campaign, Milk Producer Groups. Frank and Mary were honored distinguished couple at the June Dairy Dinner in 1997. He was a member of the Hanford Fraternal Hall and various Portuguese fraternal organizations. 

Frank is survived by his wife, Mary, sons, Lionel and wife Kathy, Dean and wife Renee and Mervin; grandchildren, Heather Vasquez and husband Robert, Ryan Barcellos and wife Megan, Brett Barcellos and girlfriend Andrea, and Derek Barcellos; great-grandchildren Connor, Justine, Savannah, Dustin Vasquez, Ethan and Avery Barcellos. Frank has a sister Lena Fagundes living in the Azores. 

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, April 27 with the Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m., at Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Services Chapel in Hanford. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 28 at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Hanford. Burial to follow at the Tulare District Cemetery.
