Publications: They are currently revising their 1993 booklet, Coloma Cemeteries. The new edition may be out later this year--price to be determined. Inquiries may be directed to the address above.


Research: They will research, at no charge, any Coloma related items. They can not research the whole county, but do have many census, probate and land records at their disposal. They also have an extensive list of records for cemeteries, churches, histories, journals, diaries, marriages, mining claims, etc., pertaining to the Coloma area. Write for details.


Library: Their records are kept at the Weller House in the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park at Coloma. It is necessary to call ahead for access at (530) 622-6198. There is no charge for searching the records, but donations are accepted.

The entrance to the Archives is located at the corner of 10th and "O" Streets in downtown Sacramento. Several parking garages are located nearby on both 10th and 11th Streets between "O" and "P"; metered parking is also available.


The Archives Research Room is open Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and is closed on state holidays. Materials are not retrieved or copied after 3:30 although the room remains open for other services during this time.


Effective November 1, 1995, fees for services are as follows: photocopies - $0.25/page; microfilm duplicates - $25.00/16 or 35mm roll; audio recordings - $15.00/cassette tape; video recordings - $20.00/VHS cassette tape; photographic reproductions - $10.00/image service charge plus applicable reproduction costs; other outside duplication (e.g. maps, drawings, etc.) - $10.00/order preparation fee; FAX responses - $1.00/page. The California State Archives accepts checks, money orders and credit cards (VISA, MasterCard and American Express). 


Although available staff time is limited, there is currently no charge for research services.
