Death of Hans Jacobsen

Hans Jacobsen, an old resident of this county, died last Sunday night at the Ewarts' home in Circle City, after a few days' illness due to the infirmities of old age. He was a native of Sweden, where he was born June 19th, 1827. He came to the United States in 1850 and to California in 1852, coming direct to El Dorado county where he has since lived at Webber Creek, Coloma, Blair's District and Plum Creek. He was a veteran of the Civil War - a member of the Company that guarded the coast of Texas. For six years past he had made his home in Placerville. His funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church, with services by Rev. E.E. Clark, and interment was in Union Cemetery.
