Do you know?

What is the difference between a query, mail list, message board?

The Colusa County GenWeb site provides a means for submitting a query.

When you subscribe to a mail list you also submit a query but in a list format for subscribers to see and reply to via email.

Message boards are a means of submitting a message in an open format - no subscription necessary. Both message boards and mail lists are usually moderated to reduce spam and nuisance submissions.

Mail list/message board information...

Taking advantage of a mail list or bulletin board can go a long way in helping you gain information on yor family tree! It can also help you 'connect' with others researching the same surname or even find cousins you have lost touch with!

As always, please be polite and considerate when using mail lists and message boards. Familiarize yourself with the rules as established by the list coordinator and/or board moderator. (If in doubt, take a look at the 'Netiquette' link!

  • Message Boards
